To quiet the different thoughts rushing through my mind, I picked up the knitting needles I had ordered a month earlier after becoming curious about knitting. I thought it would be easy since I already knew how to crochet. Oh, was I wrong! ๐
For days, I studied different stitches and practiced over and over. Ang hirap din pala! Palaging tastas. For the nth time, for days on end, I almost gave up.
But patience has always been the key. (Always!)
Maybe it’s because my favorite subject has always been Math—I simply won’t stop until I get the right answer. ๐ May konek ba?
As I was wondering what my very first knitting project would be, the answer came almost instantly.
Someone was traveling to Chicago and volunteered to bring pasalubong for my sister and her family.
So, my very first knitted projects became scarves—one each for my two nieces and two nephews.
I remember joking with my children:
"Sino kaya ang magmamana sa akin? Meron kaya? Favorite n’yo rin naman ang Math ah…" ๐
Looking back now, I smile at those first scarves. They served as a gentle reminder that every new skill begins with practice, mistakes, patience… and a willingness to keep going.
As I look at the photo today, I no longer notice the dropped stitches or the uneven tension. What I see instead is someone who is learning—patiently, imperfectly, and lovingly.
The dropped stitches and uneven tension were my weaknesses. Love was my source of strength. ❤️
