August 2026
Last Monday, August 31, we went out for a simple August birthmonth celebration of Tenten, Yeye, and my two granddaughters.
I woke up late.
So late that I didn’t even have time to prepare for what I should wear.
Usually, before heading out, I would have taken a picture, sent it to my children, and asked, “Okay ba ito?”
Not this time.
I just grabbed something from the closet, put on my jeans, slipped into my flats, picked up this little crocheted crossbody bag—and that’s it!
Then, before leaving, I remembered:
Selfie is a must.
So there I was, taking my own sariling-kayod photo-op. π πΈ
And while looking at the picture, I noticed something I almost took for granted.
That little bag I’m carrying? I made it myself.
And suddenly, I wanted to brag a little. π
Not because it’s perfect.
Not because it’s some fancy designer bag.
But because I remember the hands that made it.
The yarn.
The stitches.
The little details.
The time spent making something that, at some point, was simply a piece of yarn in my hands.
And now, here it is—hanging from my shoulder, carrying my things, and going with me to a family birthday celebration.
I’ll brag a little more… I even put my own logo on it!
I think there’s something special about using the things we make.
They don’t have to be perfect.
Sometimes, it’s enough that we can look at something and say,
“Ako ang gumawa niyan.” ❤️
So yes, I’m going to say it one more time:
I made that little crocheted crossbody bag. π π§Άπ
And today, I wore it.
Maybe that’s one of the quiet joys of making things with our own hands.
