Last night, after a joint praise and worship in another town, some members of the choir had a late-night kwentuhan over a cup of coffee at my place. We talked about moments in the past and recalled experiences from way, way back.
This one topic, which became our closing conversation for the night—no, it was already early morning—stayed with me through the night and into the morning.
“Baka pwede si Tita tumugtog every week para masanay na ulit siya.”
A little background story:
I stopped actively playing the keyboard in praise and worship sometime in 2004.
Now, I’ve been playing again once a week for almost a month. I can still play, but not as confidently as I used to. And being self-conscious about it sometimes makes me lose focus.
So I answered,
“Baka hindi ko siguro kakayanin… yung ako lang?”
And then I added,
“Sa ngayon, ’yan ang sagot ko… di ko alam talaga.”
Over the past few months, God has been connecting my present circumstances to random thoughts from my past—this time, bringing me back to an entry I wrote in 2019.
December 25, 2019
When I experienced low moments in my journey here on earth, I silently prayed never to experience them again. The painful seasons, the disappointments, the losses—they leave marks that I would never choose to repeat.
Yet life had a way of reminding me that the whole wheel keeps turning. My journey will always give me reason to learn, even through discouragements, uncertainties, or heartbreak. I still don’t wish for these to happen, but I know these experiences can shape my faith, strengthen my character, and deepen my gratitude.
The learning never really ends.
Neither do the new beginnings.
And maybe that’s God’s way of telling me that as long as He gives me another day, He is not yet finished teaching me, growing me, and reminding me that hope can begin again.
