About the Blog

Welcome to Nanay Chronicles. I'm MomLen—a mother, a widow, a storyteller, and, somewhere along the way, a crochet enthusiast who discovered that every stitch carries a memory. This little corner of the internet began as a place to write about life after loss. Over the years, it has grown into a collection of stories about family, faith, motherhood, healing, laughter, and the quiet lessons hidden in ordinary days. Every now and then, you'll also find the stories behind my crochet creations—because they're never just about yarn. They're about the season of life in which they were made. So whether you're a parent, a fellow solo parent, someone learning to begin again, or simply someone who enjoys heartfelt stories, I hope you'll find something here that reminds you you're not walking alone. I'm glad you're here.💙

Before I Let It Go

Things happened in the past. I was hurt. I walked away.
They say time heals all wounds. Time did pass, and little by little, I felt better. It took four long years,  but I reached a place where I could truly forgive—even without ever hearing the words “I’m sorry”.

When Love Has No Words

Yeye and I took a picture while enjoying our conversation. We had so much to tell each other. We laughed, talked about ordinary things, and looked forward to extraordinary ones. We were excited.

The Mother I Was… The Mother I Am

If I were to describe myself as a mother in one word, it would probably be controlling.

Even with the strong personalities of my children, I often managed to have the final say. I wanted things done my way— not because I wanted to control their lives, but because I genuinely believed I knew what was best for them.

The Day My Children Became My Teachers

Worrying has always been part of my daily reality as a mother. Over the years, I have  learned and re-learned  to live with it.

I worry about my children’s safety. I wonder how their day went, whether everything is okay, whether they are carrying burdens they haven’t told me about. Like many mothers, I sometimes worry more than I should.

When Recovery Still Hurts

Momlen Memory Lane reflection graphic titled When Recovery Still Hurts.

“I have fully recovered…”
If you have recovered, why are you still in pain?
It’s psychological. My mind and body still remembers it…
Sometimes the pain passes so quickly.
That’s why we shouldn’t judge people by their looks. They might be hiding the pain that the mind and body still remembers even if they’ve recovered from it.”
And maybe that’s another reason we should be gentle with one another—and with ourselves. We don't know what someone is carrying inside.
Enjoy natin ang ngayon, kasi pag naging bukas na 'yun, magiging kahapon na at hindi na mababalikan. ðŸ¤Ž
Maybe healing is not only about getting past the pain. Sometimes, it is also about learning to embrace the moments that are here now.
