About the Blog

Welcome to Nanay Chronicles. I'm MomLen—a mother, a widow, a storyteller, and, somewhere along the way, a crochet enthusiast who discovered that every stitch carries a memory. This little corner of the internet began as a place to write about life after loss. Over the years, it has grown into a collection of stories about family, faith, motherhood, healing, laughter, and the quiet lessons hidden in ordinary days. Every now and then, you'll also find the stories behind my crochet creations—because they're never just about yarn. They're about the season of life in which they were made. So whether you're a parent, a fellow solo parent, someone learning to begin again, or simply someone who enjoys heartfelt stories, I hope you'll find something here that reminds you you're not walking alone. I'm glad you're here.💙

I wasn’t much of a cook either, although I still smile whenever my children talk about the few specific dishes of mine they actually loved.

Before She Wore The Sablay

When my youngest daughter, Yeye, struggled through what was supposed to be her final year in UP Los Baños, I had already accepted the possibility that graduation would have to wait.

The numbers against her were overwhelming: three subjects with a grade of 4—strict pre-requisites. A sudden case of chicken pox right before the removal exams. Twenty two units left to take, meaning overload. And, they were all Math subjects.

Beyond “TMI!”

"TMI!!!" What is this?

I first heard the expression from my children many years ago when they were still young. Whenever my husband and I shared stories about our little moments of lambingan or added amusing details to our stories, they would immediately cover their ears and shout, “TMI! "TOO MUCH INFORMATION!"

Think Twice! (Or Thrice?)

These thoughts came to me just after a short morning discussion with Ningning about things to do—and some things-to-do from years ago that still haven’t been done (my fault). 😅
